The Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev made an initiative to return mining projects to the region — subject to the use of alternative energy sources, in particular the associated oil gas.

, according to him, the lack of electricity remains a key barrier. However, the passing gas mined in the deposits in the region may become a solution — and today work is being carried out on the placement of data centers with autonomous energy supply at its base.

the authorities are ready to coordinate interaction between oil and gas companies and mining operators in order to jointly develop infrastructure. There are successful examples of private data centers that use a passing gas-the region is interested in scaling such models.

Such a model can reduce the load on the network infrastructure, reduce the carbon mark and give a new impulse to the region’s digital economy.
